MICHAEL HANNAN BSc (Hons), MPI, MInstPod

Michael qualified with a Bachelor of Science in Podiatry from Northampton University in 1998. While at university he was chosen to undertake a three month placement in Sweden, focusing on the differences in service delivery of Diabetes Podiatric care - which was the subject of his final dissertation.

Upon qualifying, Michael secured a job as a Podiatrist in the National Health Service (NHS) in his home town of Bradford, West Yorkshire, where he worked up the ranks to the position of Team Leader for the Bradford City Primary Care Trust.

His work in the NHS included the diagnosis, treatment and management of a wide range of foot complaints. Michael was also involved in the minor surgery team where he performed nail surgery and electrosurgery. In 2003 Michael commenced his Surgical training  - Fellowship in surgery of the College of Podiatrists.

Michael was also heavily involved in Diabetes care, carrying out vascular and neurological assessments, and the treatment and management of chronic wounds, including larval therapy and was instrumental in developing a specific ankle brachial pressure index clinic in conjunction with the vascular department at the Bradford Royal Infirmary.

Michael moved to Dublin in 2005, where he worked in private practice in various clinics around the City. He was also appointed the Podiatrist for Leopardstown Park Hospital and Diabetes Podiatrist for the South inner City - Meath Hospital. In 2011 Michael set up his own private practices in Ranelagh, Dublin.

In May of 2016, having relocated with his wife Emma to Tipperary, Michael joined the team at the Coslia Foot Clinic, Ennis, where he treated foot conditions such as corns, callous, verrucas and carried out diabetes and vascular assessments. He was also responsible for performing minor surgery for ingrowing toenails. 

Michael obtained his certificate to practice Medical Acupuncture in October 2016 and in 2017 qualified in foot mobilisation and manipulation techniques. He also has experience in biomechanics / orthotics and sports injuries and the use of Class iv Laser systems, treating such things as musculoskeletal injuries, verrucae and fungal nails.

Michael and Emma have recently set up a private practice in Portumna, Co Galway. They are looking forward to serving the local and wider community with professionalism and the highest quality of care.
